This new offering is perfect for stretching the storage capacity of NetVista A20/A21 and small form factor A40 systems which were designed for 5400 rpm drives. This drive owes its excellent data streaming characteristics to the latest hard drive recording technology which packs 40GB of data per disk platter and the Ultra ATA/100 (100MBps) interface capability, which on new complying systems, allows two of these drives to share a common cable without having to deal with interface bottlenecks at 33 or 66 MBps. This offering includes Ontrack Disk Manager and DiskGo! software for easy drive installation in just minutes. This software also overcomes legacy hardware and operating system limitations that would otherwise limit usable capacity to under 2.1, 4.2 or 8.4GB. DiskGo!, the installer for Windows 3.X, 95 or 98 provides customized installation guidance in the customer's choice of English, French, Spanish, German, Italian or Portuguese. In addition to installing the new drive, DiskGo! also handles data migration from the older drive to the newer so customers can benefit fully from the performance improvements of the larger faster drive. This drive benefits from IBM's outstanding quality, reliability, and compatibility-testing program. IBM installs and tests millions of hard drives per year. Our ongoing quality management in support of this production provides our options customers with drives continually selected from among the best quality HDD's available. Offered with a three-year limited warranty, these drives also take on the warranty of the IBM PC system in which they are installed. In some IBM PC's this can entitle these drives to up to 3 years of on-site service. These drives are supported by IBM's world wide toll-free, HelpCenters, in many countries, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.), included in all our drives enables them, for many failure mechanisms, to inform the system of impending drive failure before it occurs. IBM LAN connected systems with S.M.A.R.T. Reaction software can automatically backup the data on the drive to other LAN storage devices, reducing the risk of data loss. Drives prediciting failure within the limited warranty period are eligible for replacement, before failure, at IBM's expense.
