| | | The new 20.4GB 7200rpm drives launches an incredible new performance level for EIDE drives due to its: fifth generation 7200rpm EIDE drive design packaging 15GB(1) of data per disk platter using advanced disk and giant magnetroresistive head technologies delivering 18 to 37 MBps of sustained data, rates unheard of in 1999 even for 10,000 rpm Ultra160 SCSI drives; improvement in typical average read seek times to 8.7 milliseconds; new 100MBps instantaneous data transfer rate through implementation of the latest Utra ATA/100 EIDE drive interface protocol. This drive provides you with superior yet affordable performance and the capacity for meeting the most demanding needs of EIDE based systems. Ontrack(R) Disk Manager(R) DiskGo!(TM) drive installation software is included with each HDD, enabling easy drive installation in just minutes. This software also enables use of the full GB capacity of this large drives despite many legacy hardware and operating system limitations that would otherwise limit usable capacity to 2.1 GB, 4.2 GB or 8.4 GB. DiskGo!, the drive installation software for Windows 3.X, 95 or 98 based systems, provides customized installation guidance in the customer's choice of English, French, Spanish, German, Italian or Portuguese. This HDD has Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.), which warns of predictable impending hard drive failure. Drives predicting failure within the limited warranty period are eligible for replacement, before failure, at IBM's expense. S.M.A.R.T. is compatible with IBM's S.M.A.R.T. Reaction software that can perform unattended backup of customer data from the drive before failure. This new drive benefits from a drive quality, reliability, compatibility, and testing program that is second-to-none. Offered with a three-year limited warranty(3), these drives also take on the warranty of the IBM PC system in which they are installed.
